High Desert Printer sponsors local Little League and youth soccer teams and has backed charity events, such as a walk to fund research on Multiple Sclerosis, and an "extreme" sports challenge for pre-high school-age youth, designed to benefit Cascade Middle School.
We support Winning Over Anger & Violence, a nonprofit that provides counseling to individuals and groups with an aim to reduce the incidence of physical and emotional abuse in Bend and greater Central Oregon. High Desert Printer CEO Steve Peters also volunteered last April to be "locked up," so donors to the Muscular Dystrophy Association could "free" him with "bail" funds they supplied to the charity.
High Desert Printer also belongs to and supports the Rotary Club of Bend, which last year appointed Steve Peters a Paul Harris Fellow. Steve also coaches youth soccer, while co-owner Lin Peters is active in Bend's Network of Entrepreneurial Women and at High Lakes Elementary and Cascade Middle School, where she has chaired the PTA's Reflections Program since 2005. This program invites students to create works of art for fun and recognition.
High Desert Printer also offers a program of its own whereby schools and other not-for-profits raise funds—and help preserve the environment—by recycling their empty printer cartridges. We supply bins for them to deposit their "empties" into, for which these organizations receive cash.
We even pick up and empty the bins. So far, several units in the Bend-LaPine School District, the Prineville Lions Club, a local American Legion post, and the J Bar J Learning Center, which helps troubled youth, have raised funds through our recycling service.
We are also members of both the Bend and Redmond Chamber of Commerce.
Bend Little League High Desert Printer sponsors a local Little League team, the Minor American A's. The 12-member team plays a total of 14 games during the season. It's a great way for the kids to learn teamwork and good sportsmanship, and the all-league BBQ on June 13th provides a chance for all the families to get together.
